Male 668 runs into bad luck . . .

On June 6, 2002, the body of Trumpeter Swan 668(m) was found by Ron and Carol Cooke. Lead poisoning was later confirmed. The swan ingested 16 lead pellets from expended shotgun shells, which build up in the bottom of lake beds over time, from years of hunting with "lead shot."
