(A word from TLCA president - Mr. Jean-Marc Filion)We, the members of the Trout Lake Conservation Association, care about the land, the water, the plants and the animals (including humans) that inhabit the Trout Lake Watershed. Caring implies stewardship. We promote educational programs that encourage low-impact co-habitation within this watershed. We fund and carry out a dynamic and ambitious research program that generates much of the data on whcih watershed decisions are based. Stewardship implies shouldering some of the management responsibility as it pertains to watershed planning (development and redevelopment) and its impact on the watershed resources, both renewable and non-renewable. This web-site is part and parcel of that educational thrust. Intelligent management of the watershed is based on informed, cooperative interaction between the people, government agencies that together make wise-use of watershed resources. The Trout Lake watershed is a multi-use environment. It is a recreational mecca in all seasons of the year and boasts one of the cleanest lakes in the district. In fact, the water quality of Trout Lake is still so good, that the City of North Bay needs only chlorinate the water (no filtration process) prior to distributing the local residents. May we pass on this heritage to our children. The TLCA is a not-for-profit, incorporated group that has no paid staff. All work is planned and executed by volunteers. Our programs are funded by our membership dues; donations from individuals and corporate sponsors who believe in the importance of the work that we do; and government grants that we receive now and then for special projects. I encourage you to become a member of our association, and also consider making a financial donation to the Trout Lake Conservation Association. Together we can maintain the high excellence that is associated with Trout Lake and its watershed. |
